There is something we can do differently, and that will make our routine more intense, which will also increase caloric expenditure (and our chances to burn fat).
Normally when we workout we do a series of one exercise, we rest, we do another series, we rest and so we go until we finish our routine but if we incorporate cardio intervals between series: active rest, we can increase intensity and the amount of calories we burn per workout.
When you add active rest to your workout, after you finish a series of an exercise instead of sitting down to see your cell phone (for what you think it's 30 seconds and it's actually like 5 minutes), you're going to activate yourself with cardio for 30-60 seconds. You can jump rope, jumping jacks, bicycle crunches, mountain climbers, etc. Then rest a little, and do the other series of your routine.
Active rest increases your cardiovascular efficiency, makes you burn a lot of calories, improves your athletic ability and helps you get the most out of your training.
It’s also a good tool to use now that we are working out at home and we don’t have all the equipment that used to give us an extra challenge at the gym.
Try it 2-3 times a week and feel and see the difference.
